January 2008 Update

Let's see, we've all been sick for what seems like months. In reality it's been about 3 weeks...but we're all ready to be done. Westley was first along with me, then Akira, then back to me and now Akira again. Our nephew Blake caught it too and looks like my brother is sick too. I've had a cold, an ear infection, lost my voice and now it's a sinus infection. I'm on antibiotics now though, so I hope to be well within a another day or two.

On a different (great) note, our baby niece has arrived! She's so beautiful. Savannah Nicole Ruehle, she was 6 lb 6 oz and 19 inches long . Welcome baby Savannah!

While Mommy and Daddy were in the hospital, Blake came to stay with us. The first night was fun, we went to the 12th Night at the Bayview in Petoskey put on by SEE north. There was a sleigh ride and then a hike with "animals" that talked about themselves. All three kids were fantastic...until the end. They were cold, tired and a bit hungry. Needless to say, even though it was fun, we were relieved to be done. Saturday and Sunday was a little more difficult as I was quite sick and unable to help much while Jon did a FANTASTIC job taking care of three little ones.

Purdy 2007 Update...I haven't updated this since Akira was first born. I thought I'd update it for those of you who may still be checking us out here.

So what's new with us: Akira is almost walking. She's just doesn't have the confidence built up yet, although she has taken some steps and cruises the furniture! Her hair is finally long enough to do SOMETHING with it...so I put it in a sprout-pony tail. She's the happiest baby ever, and I thought we were lucky with Westley! Akira's so much easier than him. Westley has taken to answer for Kira now too. I'll "ask Kira a question" like "whatca doin' kira" or "are you telling stories", you know, typical rhetorical questions that you don't expect anything from. Westley now says, "mommy, sissy says yes." Oh boy....

Westley is going to pre-school and loves it. I couldn't be happier about our decision to enroll him in a new daycare/school. Every day that I pick them up from school he talks so fast about everything he's done that day, he stumbles over his words!

The kids are getting along so well. Akira just LOVES her brother and copies him so much. I really think he'll be getting her in to trouble here in a few years...Westley watches out for her but of course still makes sure she doesn't play with his toys.

If Akira isn't in the same room as us or if I put her to bed before him, Westley always asks were his sissy is. He also always prays for her every night, along with his Halloween candy and his toy puppy....

We are so blessed with awesome children and I am so thankful to have my kids, even when Westley insists on repeatedly doing things and doing it in the same order or when Akira throws her cup on the floor 10 times...yea it's a game.

Jon and Westley always take the dogs for a walk when we get home from work. Lately Jon has been filling me in on how long it takes for Westley to go anywhere because he's observing everything and describing every step of the way to him in question form "Daddy, you're walking with me?" and "Daddy, the trees are blowing?" or "Daddy, Strider's running?"....yesterday on their walk Westley insisted on taking along the trailer to his "tractor", pushing it around the entire field, this of course slowing down the entire walk - so Jon thought they'd just skip the regular stop by nama's and nampa's house....but no, Westley of course had to keep with routine! So cute.

Things are great so far at the Purdy's House. Westley has started to bond with Akira, it's so cute. The other morning I had Kira on the bed while I was getting dressed. Westley jumped on to the bed and was mumbling something. I looked over and realized he was saying "sissy mess, clean up" and he was wiping her mouth with her burp cloth. It was too cute. When she's in her car-seat carrier Westley will rock her. He always wants to hold her too. A couple days ago I was baby talking to Kira and Westley came up and started to do it too...she started smiling so big to him. I can't wait for her to be older and able interact with him more.

Westley has started swim lessons at the pool. He loves it. We've started to go on Monday nights as a family and swim (it's dollar night). He has started practicing during bath time as well...that's not so fun. haha

We went sledding, or I should say, Jon and Westley went sledding the other night. We all walked to the back field and they sledded a couple times down the hill out there. It didn't work so well because the dogs kept running in the path. But they both had a great time anyway!

Lastly, Kira got her ears pierced a week ago. She's so adorable!

She's Here! Our beautiful little lady has finally arrived:

Akira Noelle Purdy
6 lb 3 oz, 18 inches

Big Brother Westley sure is a pro at holding her! He loves to give her kisses, hugs and always asks where baby sissy is, if he doesn't see her right away.

Westley's Two!? Well, almost. He had his birthday party last Friday. What a blast. He had some of his Mom's Group Pals over along with family and friends. It was a full house, but it felt so nice to have the space and be able to socialize with friends - especially those we haven't talked to in a long time.

Only 5 1/2 days left before baby Kira joins us. Westley is pumped. Just about every day he says "Baby Sissy's Coming Soon!" I'm not sure how he'll be, he's already such a big helper around the house, since I'm having a hard time bending over etc. I think he'll be a big helper, but I expect a transition period when he's getting used to the baby. I've got the bag packed, the nursery ready, our co-sleeper arrives today. I need to finalize some things on the house this weekend (like cleaning it after Westley's party). That's all for now. I would add pictures, but Rite Aid can't seem to figure out how to make a cd and I need a digital camera ;) haha...

Finally we have a normal life again. We've been IN our house for just over a week now, we have stove we can use, we can use the sinks and bathrooms, we're on a schedule...Life is good.

I had my last ultra sound before the baby comes and they confirmed today that it is in fact a girl for sure! Little Kira...

We are basically in. We have all our stuff in and have been pretty much been living at the house for about a week. They put our septic tank in yesterday and hopefully they'll have it hooked up today. Luckily Jon's parents live literally right next door so I have been sleeping over there because of the whole pregnant and wake up in the middle of the night to pee issue.

Westley has done really well with the change. We did move him to a toddler bed at the same time as the big move; he's played the get up - go to bed, get up - go to bed game a couple of times, but over all has done really well. He loves the house, and so do we!! So much more room! I'll get pictures soon!

Much love...
